Caterpillar Customer Story Part 1: Opposites Attract
When talking to Missy and Trevor Scherber you hear the words foundation, forever and family repeatedly come up in conversation. These words are not part of some mantra or catchy business slogan. They are the goals, dreams and realities that are important to them in their professional and personal lives in both the literal and figurative sense.
“We create the foundation of our clients’ forever homes,” says Missy. “We are committed to providing a solid structure in which to build a family, career or whatever your goals are.
We want the T.Scherber legacy in the Minneapolis area to stand out forever, so we are working to create a family focused work environment where giving back to the community is part of our business blue print.”

Trevor Scherber ventured out on his own in 2009 when he took over his brother’s dumpster business. Hard work was part of his upbringing. Trevor’s dad works in the earthmoving business, so Trevor grew up surrounded by the ups and downs of the construction industry.
While running the dumpster business, he attended the University of Minnesota studying finance. The world was in the midst of a crippling recession and his dad encouraged him to go to college and pursue banking. After several semesters at UofM, he realized his true passions were not confined to a desk pushing paper; instead, he wanted to return full time to the industry he knew.
He packed up, returned home, and began plotting who could continue to run the dumpster business so he could hop in the cab of the 20-Ton CAT machine he had purchased and push dirt, one project at a time.
Later that year Trevor met Missy Redman, an outgoing fundraising professional with a keen awareness of business and community relations. It was a match made in jobsite heaven. She took over the operations of the dumpster company so that Trevor could pursue his dream in the Earthmoving business. They haven’t looked back since.
After 9 years in business, the husband and wife team behind T.Scherber Demolition & Excavation have each found their niche. It’s simple: he handles onsite, she handles offsite.
